Privacy Policy
Draft — last updated July 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Network 13 LLC ("Network 13," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use Besti (the "App" or "Service").
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — nickname, first and last name, email address, password (stored in hashed form), date of birth, gender, and, if you sign in with Google, Facebook, or Apple, the profile information those providers share with us.
- Profile information — your photo, "About Me" text, race/ethnicity (optional), interests, and discovery preferences.
- Location information — your approximate or precise device location, which is required for the App to find nearby plans and people. On mobile, your location may be updated in the background while the App is in use.
- Activity and content data — plans you broadcast or join, activity chat messages, direct messages, join requests, check-ins, and post-outing survey responses (see Section 3 on double-blind ratings).
- Reliability data — records of check-ins, no-shows, and reports used to calculate your reliability tier.
- Device and usage data — device type, operating system, log data, and push-notification tokens.
2. Real-Person Verification and biometric data
Besti offers an optional Real-Person Verification feature on iOS and Android that performs a short face-pose liveness check. This check is processed entirely on your device. We do not upload, transmit, or store your photo, video, or any biometric data derived from this check — we only receive and store a pass/fail verification result and the date it occurred.
3. How we use your information
- To operate core features: matching you with nearby plans, enabling chat, and running the join/approve flow.
- To calculate reliability tiers and enforce the no-show suspension policy described in the App.
- To send push notifications and in-app alerts about requests, approvals, messages, and confirmed outings.
- To investigate reports, enforce our Terms of Service, and keep the community safe.
- To improve the App and diagnose technical problems.
4. Post-outing ratings are double-blind
After a confirmed outing, participants answer two private questions about each other ("Did they show up?" and "Would you meet again?"). Individual answers are never shown to the other participant — only the resulting outcome (e.g., becoming Besties, or being removed from each other's feed) is applied.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Other users, to the extent necessary for the App to function (e.g., your nickname, photo, approximate distance, trust tier, and plan location are visible to people you interact with).
- Service providers who host our infrastructure, send notifications, or otherwise help us operate the App, under confidentiality obligations.
- Law enforcement or other parties when required by law, or to protect the safety of our users.
6. Data retention
We retain account and activity data for as long as your account is active, and for a limited period afterward as needed to resolve disputes, enforce our policies, or comply with legal obligations. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 9).
7. Children's privacy
Besti is restricted to users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it.
8. Your choices
- You can edit or delete your profile information at any time from within the App.
- You can control location and notification permissions from your device settings.
- You can request a copy or deletion of your data by contacting us (see Section 9).
